1946年10月10日，達德學院由中國共產黨與左翼民主人士在屯門共同成立，為香港的一所專上學府；及至1949年2月23日，港府撤銷該校註冊，學院遂告結束。
On 10 October 1946, Dade College was jointly founded in Tuen Mun by the Chinese Communist Party and left-wing democrats as a post-secondary institution in Hong Kong; on 23 February 1949, the Hong Kong government revoked its registration and the college came to an end.

1946年10月26日，港府在油麻地砵蘭街展開取締無牌小販行動，其間華人小販王水祥被一名印度裔衝鋒隊警員踢斃，引發大規模警民衝突；駐港英軍奉召協助警方，事件導致十餘人受傷，另有35人被捕。
On 26 October 1946, the Hong Kong government launched an operation against unlicensed hawkers in Portland Street, Yau Ma Tei, during which the Chinese hawker Wong Shui-cheung was kicked to death by an Indian member of the riot squad, triggering large-scale clashes between police and the public; British troops stationed in Hong Kong were called in to assist the police, and the incident left more than ten people injured and 35 arrested.
