Hong Kong’s land area is about 1,114.6 km², made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories and over 260 islands. Hong Kong as a whole is not an island, though Hong Kong Island is — Kowloon and the New Territories are joined to the mainland.
Are there two Causeway Bays in Hong Kong?
Yes. One is Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island; the other is Tung Lo Wan, a Hakka village in Sha Tin near Tai Wai — unrelated to the shopping district.
How big is Hong Kong? What is its land area in square kilometres?
At end-2025 the Census and Statistics Department recorded a land area of 1,114.6 km²: Hong Kong Island 80.7, Kowloon 46.9, and the New Territories and Islands 986.9. Reclamation increases the figure slightly every year, so the year-end reference date matters.
