樹藝師做啲乜
樹藝師評估樹木嘅健康同結構風險，建議修剪、支撐或移除，監督樹木工程，並撰寫檢查同風險評估報告。風季前要為樹木做風險巡查，辨認有潛在危險嘅樹木。工作大部分時間喺戶外，須同物業管理、承建商同政府部門協調，亦要熟悉攀樹、鏈鋸等相關工序以了解現場風險。報告往往係業主同管理人員決定保留、修剪或移除一棵樹嘅依據。
註冊要求
樹藝師註冊要求分四方面：一，學歷資歷——樹藝學、樹木管理、樹木風險評估或園境管理嘅專業證書、高級文憑或以上，達資歷架構第四級或以上；二，專業資歷——例如國際樹木學會嘅註冊樹藝師、英國樹木學會嘅技術／專業／院士會員等；三，培訓資歷——完成並通過樹木管理辦事處嘅樹木風險評估及管理訓練課程，或認可課程；四，職安健訓練資歷。另加指定年數嘅樹木護養工作經驗，並須年滿18歲同為香港居民。
續期同持續進修
每次註冊同續期嘅有效期係三年。想續期嘅註冊樹木管理人員，須出示現時註冊有效期屆滿前三年內、為期至少一年半嘅在職記錄，同喺同一時段符合相關持續進修樹藝學要求嘅記錄。續期可於有效期屆滿前至少十個星期提出申請。註冊人亦要喺註冊期內保持專業資歷有效，並遵守行為守則；表現監察機制確保佢哋維持應有水平。

What an arborist does
An arborist assesses tree health and structural risk, recommends pruning, support or removal, supervises tree works and writes inspection and risk-assessment reports. Before the typhoon season, arborists conduct risk surveys and identify potentially hazardous trees. Much of the work is outdoors and involves coordinating with property managers, contractors and government departments; an arborist also needs to understand related operations such as climbing and chainsaw work in order to judge on-site risk. Reports often underpin an owner's or manager's decision on whether to retain, prune or remove a tree.
Registration requirements
Arborist registration has four strands. Academic qualification means a professional certificate, higher diploma or above in arboriculture, tree management, tree risk assessment or landscape management at QF Level 4 or above. Professional qualification includes, for example, the International Society of Arboriculture's Certified Arborist or the Arboricultural Association's Technician, Professional or Fellow membership. Training means completing and passing the Tree Management Office's tree risk assessment and management course or a recognised equivalent. And there is occupational safety and health training. On top of these, the applicant needs the specified years of tree-care work experience, must be aged 18 or above and must be a Hong Kong resident.
Renewal and continuing development
Each registration and renewal is valid for three years. To renew, a registered tree management person must show at least 18 months of in-job records within the three years before expiry, together with records of meeting the relevant arboricultural continuing-development requirements over the same period. Renewal may be applied for at least 10 weeks before expiry. Registered persons must also keep their professional qualification valid during the registration period and follow the code of conduct; a performance-monitoring mechanism helps maintain the required standard.
