紮鐵工按圖則切割同屈曲鋼筋、綁紮成樑柱樓板嘅鋼筋籠。香港規定喺地盤親身做建築工程一律要註冊，而獨立做鋼筋屈紮呢類指定工種，仲要係註冊熟練技工或半熟練技工，入行靠嘅係工藝測試同建造業安全訓練。

This sector runs on craft skill and years on the tools: the CIC and the Water Supplies Department each run registration and training schemes, apprenticeship (learn while you earn) is the usual way in, and licensed plumbers must register with the WSD. The work is physical, and safety training is compulsory before you start.

紮鐵工按結構圖則開料同屈曲鋼筋，再綁紮成樑、柱、樓板同牆嘅鋼筋籠，確保鋼筋位置、間距同保護層厚度符合要求，之後配合落石屎。大部分工序喺露天同高空進行，要搬抬鋼筋、長時間蹲紮，並同模板、石屎等工種夾好時間。由於鋼筋一旦紮錯就要拆開重做，睇圖同尺寸準確度直接影響質素同安全。
根據《建造業工人註冊條例》，喺地盤親身進行建築工程嘅人，必須註冊為建造業工人。二零一七年四月起，「指定工種指定技能」規定生效：除指定情況外，只有指定工類嘅註冊熟練技工或半熟練技工，先可以獨立進行相關工種嘅工程。所有註冊者都要先持有效嘅建造業安全訓練證明書（綠卡）；工人註冊證一般有效期五年，可續期。
註冊分三類：註冊熟練技工須持建造業議會、前建造業訓練局或職業訓練局嘅工藝測試證書等；註冊半熟練技工須持中級工藝測試證書等；註冊普通工人只須持有效綠卡。建造業議會嘅工藝測試分中級（中工，對應半熟練）同熟練（大工）兩個級別，用嚟確立技能水平。常見入行方法係先讀香港建造學院或建造業議會嘅課程，再報考工藝測試。

Bar benders and fixers cut and bend steel to structural drawings, then tie it into cages for beams, columns, slabs and walls, keeping bar position, spacing and cover correct before the concrete pour. Most of the work is outdoors and at height, involving lifting bar, long spells of tying and close coordination with formwork and concreting trades. Because a mistake means the cage must be taken apart and redone, accuracy to drawings and dimensions directly affects quality and safety. Steel reinforcement is a designated trade division, so independent work in it requires the matching registered worker status.
Under the Construction Workers Registration Ordinance, anyone who personally carries out construction work on a site must be registered as a construction worker. Since April 2017 the 'designated workers for designated skills' provision has applied: except in specified circumstances, only registered skilled or semi-skilled workers of a designated trade division may independently carry out that trade's work. Every registrant must first hold a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card); a registration card is normally valid for five years and is renewable.
There are three registration categories: registered skilled worker, requiring a trade test certificate issued by the CIC, the former CITA or the VTC or equivalent; registered semi-skilled worker, requiring an intermediate trade test certificate; and registered general worker, requiring only a valid Green Card. The CIC's trade tests come in two levels — intermediate (semi-skilled) and skilled — that set the standard of competence. A common way in is to first take a Hong Kong Institute of Construction or CIC course, then sit the trade test.

水喉學徒係香港水管工程嘅入行起點：跟持牌水喉匠做供水同排水工程，同時讀職專課程，累積年資後考水務署水喉匠考試。
建築工人係地盤前線工種嘅統稱：紮鐵、釘板、落石屎、砌磚、批盪同拆卸等。入行靠訓練同工藝測試確立技能，而喺地盤工作要有建造業工人註冊證。
註冊水喉匠（持牌水喉匠）係唯一可以合法承接指定供水系統工程嘅身分，牌照由水務署簽發，要先通過水喉匠考試。
冷氣技術員做空調系統嘅安裝、保養同維修，會接觸受管制雪種同電力部分，所以法定同安全要求都跟得緊。
