工作實況：帶團外遊同照顧團員
領隊嘅工作日圍繞行程執行同照顧團員。出發前，佢要熟讀行程、核對名單同證件、確認機票同酒店安排。旅途中，領隊要講解景點同集合時間、協調交通同住宿、協助辦理出入境手續，並照顧團員嘅起居同安全。遇到航班延誤、證件問題、身體不適或團員糾紛，領隊要即時應變同安撫，並同旅行社、當地導遊同司機保持溝通。領隊亦要做好紀錄同報告，確保行程順利完成。
關卡：旅監局領隊牌照同發牌準則
香港領隊須持有旅遊業監管局（旅監局）發出嘅領隊牌照。發牌準則包括：持有香港永久性居民身分證，或不受禁止擔任領隊逗留條件所限嘅其他身分證；年滿18歲；符合合適與否嘅規定；持有旅監局指明機構發出嘅有效急救技能證書；符合學歷規定（中五，或新高中學制高中三年級，或同等學歷）；修畢旅監局指明嘅領隊試前訓練課程；以及喺領隊領牌考試中考取合格。牌照有效期一般為三年，續牌另須修畢領隊持續專業進修計劃。
出路：旅行社、外遊團同領隊職涯
領隊主要受僱於旅行社或外遊團營運商，亦可隨季節或旺季以兼職形式帶團。持牌人可先由見習或助理領隊做起，累積帶團經驗，逐步負責長線團、專題團或高端團；亦可同時考取導遊資格，兼顧接待入境旅客嘅工作。旅監局嘅領隊試前訓練課程獲多間院校採用，部分更納入高級文憑或學位課程嘅選修單元。長遠可向領隊主管、外遊團產品策劃或旅行社管理方向發展。

The job: leading groups abroad and looking after members
A tour escort's working day centres on running the itinerary and looking after group members. Before departure, the escort studies the itinerary, checks the name list and documents, and confirms flight and hotel arrangements. During the trip, they explain sights and meeting times, coordinate transport and accommodation, assist with immigration procedures, and attend to members' daily needs and safety. If there is a flight delay, a document problem, illness or a dispute among members, the escort must respond and reassure, staying in touch with the travel agency, local guide and driver. The escort also keeps records and reports so the itinerary is completed smoothly.
The gate: the TIA tour escort licence and its criteria
Hong Kong tour escorts must hold a tour escort licence issued by the Travel Industry Authority (TIA). The licensing criteria require a Hong Kong permanent identity card, or another identity card not subject to any condition of stay prohibiting the holder from acting as a tour escort; being aged 18 or above; meeting the suitability requirement; holding a valid certificate of competency in first aid issued by a body specified by the TIA; meeting the education requirement (Form 5, or Senior Secondary 3, or equivalent); completing a TIA-specified pre-examination training course; and passing the tour escort licensing examination. A licence is generally valid for three years, and renewal additionally requires completing the tour escort continuing professional development scheme.
Pathways: travel agents, outbound tours and career growth
Tour escorts are mainly employed by travel agencies or outbound tour operators, and may work part-time during peak seasons. A licensed escort may start as a trainee or assistant escort, build experience on tours, and gradually take charge of long-haul, themed or premium tours; they may also obtain a tourist guide qualification to handle inbound visitors. The TIA's pre-examination training courses are used by several institutions, some as elective modules within higher diploma or degree programmes. In the longer term an escort can move towards escort supervisor, outbound tour product planning or travel agency management.
