1591年，即明萬曆十九年，明廷新置南頭參將，並派遣船艦前往香港境內多處水域巡行，包括佛堂門、九龍、屯門以及急水門（今日之汲水門）。
In 1591, the 19th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming dynasty, the Ming court established the Nantou Assistant Regional Commander and dispatched ships to patrol various waters within present-day Hong Kong, including Fat Tong Mun, Kowloon, Tuen Mun and Kap Shui Mun.
