In the 3rd year of the Chongzhen reign of the Ming dynasty, the pirate Li Kuiqi led more than a hundred pirate ships to raid the Hong Kong area, and Nantou Fort's Assistant Regional Commander Chen Gong led the naval force to intercept them at Fat Tong Mun; the pirates then moved to the Nantou sea area and plundered coastal villages, and Chen Gong died in pursuit.
