1722年、即清康熙六十一年之前，清廷已於佛堂門建置南堂炮臺，其位置相當於今日的東龍洲，並由大鵬協水師管轄，編制包括把總一人及防兵二十五人。該炮臺至1810年、即嘉慶十五年遭到撤除，並遷至九龍寨海旁重新修建。
Before 1722, the 61st year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty, the Qing court had already built the Nam Tong Fort at Fat Tong Mun, at the site of present-day Tung Lung Chau, under the jurisdiction of the Dapeng Coastal Defence Water Force with a establishment of one Pa-tsung and 25 defence soldiers; the fort was dismantled in 1810, the 15th year of the Jiaqing reign, and relocated and rebuilt at the Kowloon Walled City waterfront.
