Why it matters

Classical-Chinese spoof and “calling out the flub” gags made it a Stephen Chow classic.

背景 Background

Flirting Scholar (1993), directed by Lee Lik-chi and starring Stephen Chow and Gong Li among others, comically reworks a Ming scholar–beauty tale; many lines later entered catchphrase use. This entry records the work’s place without long dialogue extracts.
