1817年9月至10月（清嘉慶二十二年八月），清廷於東湧口增建八間汛房，並在當地石獅山腳建造炮臺兩座、兵房七間與火藥局一間。
From September to October 1817 (the eighth month of the twenty-second year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing dynasty), the Qing court built eight additional military posts at Tung Chung Hau, and constructed two forts, seven barracks, and one gunpowder magazine at the foot of Shek Sze Shan there.
