1836年2月3日（清道光十六年正月初十日），廣東水師提督關天培的下屬查出，大澳湧同合舖戶陳亞辛私自製造四門火炮，於是行文新安縣，促請緝捕陳氏歸案。
On 3 February 1836 (the tenth day of the first month of the sixteenth year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing dynasty), subordinates of Guan Tianpei, Naval Commander of Guangdong, discovered that Chen Yaxin, a shopkeeper of Tonghe Pu in Tai O Chung, had privately manufactured four cannons, and therefore sent an official document to Xin'an County urging the arrest of Chen.
