新安縣係一五七三年由東莞縣分出來嘅縣，縣治設於南頭，香港自此納入同一縣轄。呢條軸收錄縣嘅設立、戶口、田賦、墟市、遷界同復界，係香港在成為英國殖民地之前最完整嘅行政框架。

Xin’an County was carved out of Dongguan and given its seat at Nantou, bringing Hong Kong under one county administration. Its creation, households, land tax, market towns and boundary clearances all sit on this thread.

Land-tax and household figures beyond those already recorded are not imported; changes to the county boundary are described only as the source describes them.
