元朗係新界西北最早期嘅聚落同墟市所在，志錄由南朝寺院傳說、宋代移民，記到圓朗墟、漁塘、水利同新市鎮。呢條軸把「墟市—農業—新市鎮」三層排埋一齊。

Fish-pond area and farm output are not recorded and are not estimated; Yuen Long market is treated as the same place as the old market town.
