油麻地由尖沙咀村民遷居而形成聚落：天后廟、街市、填海同碼頭，之後係戲院、果欄同舊區重建。呢條軸把同一街區嘅選址、遷廟、填海、疫病、交通同重建條目排成一線，睇得到一個九龍街區係點由海岸村落變成市區。

Yau Ma Tei grew where villagers displaced from Tsim Sha Tsui settled: a Tin Hau temple, markets, reclamation and piers, then cinemas, the fruit market and urban renewal. The thread lines up siting, temple moves, reclamation, epidemics, transport and rebuilding at street-block scale.

油麻地唔係獨立嘅一級統計單位：呢頁人口數字由 facts.ts 派生，係油尖旺區全區口徑（包含尖沙咀同旺角），唔可以當成油麻地街區本身嘅人口；歷年分區界線亦改過，唔會逐年換算。未有官方登記嘅數字唔會估算。

Yau Ma Tei is not a stand-alone statistical unit: the population figure comes from facts.ts and covers the whole Yau Tsim Mong district (Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok included), not the neighbourhood itself. District boundaries have also changed over time and are not converted year by year; unregistered numbers are not estimated.
