觀塘區位於九龍東部，由觀塘、牛頭角、九龍灣、藍田、油塘、秀茂坪及安達臣組成。南面為維多利亞港及鯉魚門海峽，北面是飛鵝山。

Kwun Tong occupies eastern Kowloon, comprising Kwun Tong, Ngau Tau Kok, Kowloon Bay, Lam Tin, Yau Tong, Sau Mau Ping and Anderson Road. It faces Victoria Harbour and the Lei Yue Mun Strait to the south, with Fei Ngo Shan to the north.

觀塘發展自 1950 年代，是香港最早期的衞星城市及工業區之一。鯉魚門是歷史悠久的漁村，以海鮮聞名，村內有三百多年歷史的天后廟。油塘早年有水泥廠及工業。九龍灣及觀塘海旁在啟德機場關閉後發展為商業區，觀塘市中心重建是市區重建局大型項目。

Kwun Tong developed from the 1950s as one of Hong Kong’s earliest satellite towns and industrial districts. Lei Yue Mun is a historic fishing village famed for seafood, with a Tin Hau temple over 300 years old. Yau Tong had cement works and industry in earlier decades. After Kai Tak closed, Kowloon Bay and the Kwun Tong waterfront became commercial districts; the Kwun Tong Town Centre redevelopment is a major Urban Renewal Authority project.

港鐵觀塘線設九龍灣、牛頭角、觀塘、藍田站，將軍澳線經油塘；觀塘繞道及東區海底隧道是通往港島的主要通道。鯉魚門及三家村碼頭有街渡往西灣河。

The Kwun Tong Line serves Kowloon Bay, Ngau Tau Kok, Kwun Tong and Lam Tin; the Tseung Kwan O Line passes through Yau Tong. Kwun Tong Bypass and the Eastern Harbour Crossing link to Hong Kong Island. Kai-to ferries run from Lei Yue Mun and Sam Ka Tsuen to Sai Wan Ho.

Kowloon Bay and Kwun Tong form the main commercial belt of East Kowloon, promoted in recent years as CBD2 with factory-to-office conversions. The Kwun Tong Town Centre redevelopment will reshape the area around the MTR station. Lam Tin and Yau Tong are predominantly residential.
