黃大仙區位於九龍東北部，北倚獅子山，由黃大仙、鑽石山、新蒲崗、樂富、慈雲山及竹園組成。地勢由慈雲山（海拔 494 米）向南下降至新蒲崗工業區。

Wong Tai Sin lies in north-east Kowloon beneath Lion Rock, comprising Wong Tai Sin, Diamond Hill, San Po Kong, Lok Fu, Tsz Wan Shan and Chuk Yuen. The terrain descends from Tsz Wan Shan (494 m) to the San Po Kong industrial area in the south.

「鑽石山」之名源於區內舊時石礦場。黃大仙祠於 1921 年設壇，是香港著名道教廟宇，每年農曆新年上頭炷香是傳統習俗。樂富、橫頭磡早年有寮屋區，1960 年代起發展為公共屋邨。慈雲山是 1960 年代大型公共屋邨發展區。

Diamond Hill takes its name from former quarries in the area. Wong Tai Sin Temple was established in 1921 and is a celebrated Taoist temple; offering the first incense at Lunar New Year is a tradition. Lok Fu and Wang Tau Hom contained squatter areas before public estates were built from the 1960s. Tsz Wan Shan became a large public-housing district in the 1960s.

港鐵觀塘線設樂富、黃大仙、鑽石山及彩虹站，鑽石山同時為屯馬線車站。龍翔道是貫穿九龍中部的主要快速公路。慈雲山以巴士及小巴接駁鑽石山站。

The Kwun Tong Line serves Lok Fu, Wong Tai Sin, Diamond Hill and Choi Hung; Diamond Hill also stops the Tuen Ma Line. Lung Cheung Road is the main expressway across central Kowloon. Tsz Wan Shan is served by buses and minibuses linking to Diamond Hill station.

新蒲崗是傳統工業區，近年有工廈活化。鑽石山有大型商場荷里活廣場。區內以公共房屋及民生商業為主，黃大仙祠每年吸引大量善信及遊客。

San Po Kong is a traditional industrial area with recent factory conversions. Diamond Hill hosts the large Plaza Hollywood mall. The district is largely public housing with neighbourhood commerce, while Wong Tai Sin Temple draws worshippers and visitors year-round.
