Sham Shui Po lies in north-west Kowloon and includes Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Lai Chi Kok and Shek Kip Mei. Shek Kip Mei is closely tied to the history of public housing in Hong Kong; Cheung Sha Wan contains large industrial, commercial and logistics facilities.

深水埗區位於九龍西北部，由深水埗、長沙灣、荔枝角、石硤尾、又一村及昂船洲組成。北面以筆架山、獅子山與沙田區相隔，西臨昂船洲及葵青區。

Sham Shui Po lies in north-west Kowloon, comprising Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan, Lai Chi Kok, Shek Kip Mei, Yau Yat Tsuen and Stonecutters Island. It is bounded to the north by Beacon Hill and Lion Rock, and faces the Kwai Tsing container port across the Rambler Channel.

1955 年在李屋村及鄭屋村附近發現的東漢磚室墓，證明兩千年前已有居民。1953 年 12 月石硤尾木屋區大火，促使政府興建徙置大廈，是香港公共房屋制度的起點。深水埗早年是紡織及製衣工業集中地，長沙灣、荔枝角一帶至今仍有工商大廈。

The Eastern Han brick tomb found near Li Uk and Cheng Uk villages in 1955 shows settlement here more than 1,800 years ago. The Shek Kip Mei fire of December 1953 destroyed squatter huts and led to the first resettlement blocks — the origin of Hong Kong’s public housing system. Sham Shui Po was an early textile and garment manufacturing centre; Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok still hold industrial-commercial buildings.

The Tsuen Wan Line serves Sham Shui Po, Cheung Sha Wan and Lai Chi Kok; the Kwun Tong Line passes through Shek Kip Mei; the Tuen Ma Line stops at Nam Cheong. West Kowloon Corridor and West Kowloon Highway link to the island and the New Territories. Lai Chi Kok Road and Cheung Sha Wan Road are the main east-west arteries.
