On 4 May 1686, floods destroyed earthen forts and dwellings; residents climbed onto rooftops and made rafts with bamboo and wood to cross the water, and drownings were frequently heard of.

On the 22nd day of the 4th month of the 25th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty (4 May 1686), heavy rain fell for several days, causing water to accumulate in the relatively high foothill area of the county city, and the drains could not discharge it smoothly.
