楚賓

楚賓活躍於1930年代同40年代嘅香港粵劇同電影界，身兼演員同導演。1934年10月25日，佢以文武生身分，聯同正印花旦林小梅、丑生廖夢覺，隨廣州「散天花劇團」首次公演梁金棠編撰嘅粵劇《帝女花》。佢參演大觀公司嘅粵語喜劇《金屋十二釵》（1937年公映），飾演十二娘傾心，並因戲中戲《卓文君夜奔司馬相如》而與演員朱劍琴（朱佩瑞）相戀結婚。後期佢移居廣東發展，在反右運動中被指為粵劇界右派分子，於群眾集會上被批鬥。

Cho Ban was a Cantonese opera and film actor and director active in Hong Kong in the 1930s and 40s. On 25 October 1934 he appeared as the civil-military lead, alongside principal female lead Lam Siu-mui and clown Liu Mung-kok, in the first public performance of Tong Nui Fa by the Guangzhou troupe San Tin Fa. He appeared in the Grandview Cantonese comedy Twelve Golden Hairpins (1937) and married his co-star Chu Kim-kam after they played opposite each other in the play-within-a-film. Later settling in Guangdong, he was labelled a rightist in the opera world during the Anti-Rightist Campaign and struggled through mass criticism sessions.
