1946年出世，蔡繼光係香港電影編劇同導演，屬1970年代香港新浪潮導演嘅一員，同輩仲有譚家明、嚴浩、許鞍華、徐克等。佢初入行主要喺電視台做編導，後來獲邵氏兄弟聘用，擔任導演同編劇。1983年佢以《男與女》奪得金馬獎第20屆最佳原著劇本獎；1984年自組「龍光影業有限公司」拍電影。

Born in 1946, Clifford Choi Kai-kwong is a Hong Kong director and screenwriter and one of the directors of the 1970s Hong Kong New Wave, alongside Tsui Hark, Ann Hui, Yim Ho and Patrick Tam. He began as a television director before joining Shaw Brothers as director and writer. In 1983 he won the Golden Horse Award for Best Original Screenplay with Men and Women, and in 1984 he set up Dragon Light Film Company to produce features.
