陳可辛1962年喺香港出世，泰國長大，八十年代回流香港入電影圈，由副導演、監製做起，1992年夥拍李志毅等人創立UFO電影公司，以都會愛情喜劇開闢新路線。1994年《金枝玉葉》廣受歡迎，1996年《甜蜜蜜》橫掃香港電影金像獎九個大獎，包括最佳電影同最佳導演，被譽為香港電影史上最動人嘅愛情片之一。2000年代北上發展，《如果·愛》(2005) 開啟內地歌舞片潮流，《中國合夥人》(2013) 為佢贏得金雞獎最佳導演，成為中港合拍片嘅代表導演。

Peter Chan, born in Hong Kong in 1962 and raised in Thailand, returned in the 1980s and rose from assistant director and producer to co-founding the UFO film company in 1992, pioneering urbane romantic comedy. Tom, Dick and Hairy (1993) and He Ain't Heavy... He's My Father showcased the brand, but Comrades: Almost a Love Story (1996) swept nine Hong Kong Film Awards including Best Film and Best Director, and is hailed as one of Hong Kong cinema's most moving romances. Moving north in the 2000s, Perhaps Love (2005) revived the Chinese musical, and American Dreams in China (2013) earned him the Golden Rooster for Best Director, making him a standard-bearer of mainland–Hong Kong co-productions.
