黃霑1941年喺廣州出世，1949年隨家人移居香港，香港大學中文系畢業，做過教師、廣告創作，一句「人頭馬一開，好事自然來」成為廣告經典。佢同作曲家顧嘉煇組成「煇黃」組合，《獅子山下》《上海灘》《滄海一聲笑》《男兒當自強》等金曲寫盡香港氣魄，主持節目同寫作同樣妙語連珠。2004年11月因肺癌離世，終年63歲，萬人送別呢位「不文霑」、香港流行文化嘅一代宗師。

James Wong, born in Guangzhou in 1941, moved to Hong Kong in 1949 and graduated in Chinese from the University of Hong Kong, working as a teacher and legendary adman ('Remy Martin opens, good things naturally come'). With composer Joseph Koo he formed the famed 'Fai-Wong' pairing, writing Lion Rock, Shanghai Bund, A Laugh from the Vast Sea and countless anthems capturing Hong Kong's swagger, while his wit shone on television and in print. He died of lung cancer in November 2004, aged 63, mourned as the grand master of Hong Kong pop culture.
