Tsuen Wan is one of the earliest new towns in the New Territories, west of Kwai Chung on Rambler Channel. It has an urbanised town centre and coastal localities such as Ting Kau and Sham Tseng.
Principal localities (not a complete gazetteer): Tsuen Wan, Lei Muk Shue, Ting Kau, Sham Tseng, Ma Wan.

Tsuen Wan lies in the south-west New Territories, comprising the Tsuen Wan town centre, Lei Muk Shue, Ting Kau, Sham Tseng, Ma Wan and the north- east corner of Lantau. Tai Mo Shan, the highest point in Hong Kong, is in this district.

荃灣是新界最早開發的地區之一，1948 年已設荃灣新市鎮規劃，是新界第一個新市鎮。深井是傳統燒鵝食店集中地。馬灣因青馬大橋通車（1997 年）而對外開放，島上有挪亞方舟主題景點及馬灣公園。

Tsuen Wan was among the earliest areas developed in the New Territories, with new-town planning begun in 1948 — the first new town in the New Territories. Sham Tseng is famous for its roast goose restaurants. Ma Wan opened to the public when the Tsing Ma Bridge opened in 1997; the island hosts the Noah’s Ark theme park and Ma Wan Park.

港鐵荃灣線以荃灣站為終點，屯馬線設荃灣西站。荃灣路、屯門公路及青山公路是主要道路。荃灣碼頭及馬灣有渡輪服務。

The Tsuen Wan Line terminates at Tsuen Wan station; the Tuen Ma Line stops at Tsuen Wan West. Tsuen Wan Road, Tuen Mun Road and Castle Peak Road are the main roads. Ferries link Tsuen Wan pier and Ma Wan.
