屯門區位於新界西北部，東面是青山及大欖郊野公園，西面是珠江口，由屯門新市鎮、良田、掃管笏、小欖及龍鼓灘組成。屯門河是區內主要水道。

Tuen Mun lies in the north-west New Territories, bounded by Castle Peak and the Tai Lam Country Park to the east and the Pearl River estuary to the west. It comprises the Tuen Mun new town, Leung Tin, So Kwun Wat, Siu Lam and Lung Kwu Tan, drained by the Tuen Mun River.

屯門自古是屯門海及青山灣沿岸的重要海路據點。青山禪院（青山寺）是香港最古老的寺院之一。屯門新市鎮於 1970 年代發展，是繼荃灣後的主要衛星城市。青山灣曾是漁村集中地。

Tuen Mun has been an important maritime point on the coast of Tuen Mun Bay and Castle Peak Bay since early times. Tsing Shan Monastery is one of Hong Kong’s oldest temples. The Tuen Mun new town developed in the 1970s as a major satellite city after Tsuen Wan. Castle Peak Bay once held fishing villages.

港鐵屯馬線由屯門站延伸至紅磡；輕鐵網絡服務屯門區內各屋邨。屯門公路及青山公路連接荃灣及九龍。屯門碼頭有渡輪往東涌、大澳及澳門。

The Tuen Ma Line runs from Tuen Mun station to Hung Hom; the Light Rail network serves the district’s estates. Tuen Mun Road and Castle Peak Road link to Tsuen Wan and Kowloon. Tuen Mun pier operates ferries to Tung Chung, Tai O and Macau.

Tuen Mun is a large residential new town. Industry concentrates in the Tuen Mun industrial areas and Lung Kwu Tan, including computer and electronics manufacturing. Gold Coast and Castle Peak Bay focus on leisure and tourism, with several shopping malls across the district.
