Hard figures on digital infrastructure come from OFCA, the OGCIO and the Innovation and Technology Commission. As of June 2026 fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) residential coverage reached 96.0%. In March 2025 there were about 8.8 million 5G subscribers, over 116% of population (multiple SIM cards per person). In 2024 R&D spending was 1.13% of GDP. Mobile-line penetration (accounts per capita), an official census of high-availability data centres and their floor area are further data not yet catalogued. 5G penetration is measured as subscribers/population and can exceed 100% because one person may hold several cards; the metric must be read with that caveat.
