In the drama, the captain ignores his co-pilot's advice and insists on flying the aircraft straight through a thunderstorm cloud. Do pilots really do that in real life?
事實應該係點 / What really happens
現實中，民航機師遇到雷暴雲的基本原則是「能避就避、絕不穿越」。國際慣例以及美國聯邦航空總署（FAA）的《航空資訊手冊》都建議，機師應與強烈雷暴、或雷達上呈強烈回波的雷暴保持至少 20 海里（約 37 公里）的橫向距離，因為冰雹、強烈湍流和風切變往往延伸到雲體之外；中國民航亦規定日間至少避開 5 公里、夜間 10 公里。機師出發前已透過氣象簡報掌握航線天氣，正常做法是繞航、改變高度或延誤，而不是硬「衝入去」。機長一邊清唱一邊穿越雷暴雲，只是為戲劇效果而誇大，真實飛行以安全為先，不會刻意撞向雷暴雲。
In reality, avoiding thunderstorms is a basic rule of commercial flying: pilots never deliberately fly through a storm when it can be avoided. International guidance and the FAA's Aeronautical Information Manual recommend keeping at least 20 nautical miles (about 37 km) of lateral clearance from a severe thunderstorm or one showing intense radar echoes, because hail, severe turbulence and wind shear extend well beyond the visible cloud. Pilots study weather briefings before departure and normally divert, change altitude or delay instead of pushing through. The scene of a captain singing as he flies into a storm is exaggerated for effect; in real operations safety comes first and pilots would not intentionally fly into a thunderstorm.
