機電署75周年紀念冊：1982 年工務司署分拆為多個執行部門，「機電處」升格為「機電工程署」。
EMSD 75th booklet: in 1982 the PWD was split into executive departments and the EMO was upgraded to EMSD.

水務署供水里程：1982 年水務署正式成為署級部門（同年亦記樂安排海水化淡廠停用）。
WSD water supply milestones: in 1982 WSD formally became a full department (same year the Lok On Pai desalination plant was decommissioned).

懲教署年誌：1982 年 2 月 1 日「監獄署」易名為「懲教署」，以反映重視犯人康復。
CSD chronicle: on 1 February 1982 the Prisons Department was renamed Correctional Services Department to emphasise rehabilitation.

香港海關：1982 年 8 月 1 日脫離工商署，成為獨立部門（1977 年緝私隊已改稱香港海關）。

九廣鐵路公司成立 / Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation established
立法會文件：九鐵於 1982 年 12 月 24 日根據《九廣鐵路公司條例》成立；1983 年 2 月 1 日原有鐵路資產、權利及法律責任歸屬九鐵。
