2000 年嘅大事、當年成立嘅機構、當年數字同當年氣候，全部有來源同時點。氣候數據由天文台開放數據 API 逐日抓取後按年點算，所以每一年都用同一把尺。

工貿署：前貿易署於 2000 年擴展並改名為工業貿易署，接替前工業署為工業界和中小企業提供一般支援服務。

漁農處改名為漁農自然護理署 / Agriculture and Fisheries Department renamed AFCD
立法會文件：第 331 號法律公告宣布漁農處改名為漁農自然護理署，由 2000 年 1 月 1 日起實施；同日環境食物局成立。
LegCo paper: L.N. 331 of 1999 renamed the Agriculture and Fisheries Department as AFCD with effect from 1 January 2000; the Environment and Food Bureau was established the same day.

立法會文件：因《提供市政服務（重組）條例》後，環境食物局由 2000 年 1 月 1 日起成立，負責環境保護、環境衞生、食物供應及安全、自然護理及漁農政策。

康文署博物館服務：由舊鯉魚門炮台改建的軍事主題博物館於 2000 年對外開放（其後易名為香港抗戰及海防博物館）。

立法會文件：地鐵有限公司 2000 年 4 月 26 日成立為法團；《地下鐵路條例》於 6 月 30 日生效，同日地下鐵路公司財產、權利及負債轉歸地鐵有限公司。
LegCo paper: MTR Corporation Limited was incorporated on 26 April 2000; Cap. 556 took effect on 30 June 2000, vesting MTRC’s property, rights and liabilities in the new company.
