寶雲（George Bowen，1821–1899）係英國殖民地官員，來港前先後出任昆士蘭首任總督、紐西蘭第五任總督、維多利亞第五任總督及毛里裘斯第十三任總督，1883年3月出任第九任香港總督。他延續前任方向，支持在立法局設立華人議席，1884年正式委任黃勝為華人非官守議員，令立法局嘅華人聲音制度化。同年中法戰爭期間，香港碼頭與船塢工人拒絕為法國船隻工作，爆發大規模罷工與示威，政府一度以拘捕、武力與驅逐手段應對，事件令殖民政府正視華人勞工嘅集體力量。他任內亦着手改善衞生與供水問題，1885年離任返英，1899年逝世。灣仔寶雲道以他命名，該道1888年落成，部分路段以棧道形式敷設食水管。

Sir George Bowen (1821–1899) was a British colonial administrator who had been the first Governor of Queensland, the fifth Governor of New Zealand, the fifth Governor of Victoria and the thirteenth Governor of Mauritius before becoming Hong Kong's ninth Governor in March 1883. Continuing his predecessor's line, he upheld the principle of Chinese representation and appointed Wong Shing as a Chinese unofficial member of the Legislative Council in 1884, entrenching a Chinese voice in the chamber. That same year, during the Sino-French War, Hong Kong dockers and wharf workers refused to work on French ships, triggering a large strike and demonstrations which the government met with arrests, force and deportations — an episode that forced the colonial administration to reckon with the collective strength of Chinese labour. He also tackled sanitation and water supply before leaving in 1885, and died in 1899. Bowen Road in Wan Chai, completed in 1888 with water mains carried on trestle sections, is named after him.
