政府統計處《香港統計數字一覽2026年版》按教育程度列出學生人數。除專上教育以該學年 12 月底為準外，其他一般反映學年初。數字包括為期一年或以上的全日制及兼讀制學生，不包括補習班、職業訓練及成人教育課程。
2025/26 學年：學前教育 115 300 人；小學 321 700 人（包括特殊學校）；中學 361 400 人（臨時數字，包括夜校、技工級及毅進／應用教育文憑）；專上教育 354 700 人（臨時數字）。2025 年，15 歲及以上人口具學位程度的佔 27.6%。
教育局專上教育頁指出，途徑是靈活多元、多階進出。由 2018/19 學年起，八所教資會資助大學每年合共提供 15 000 個第一年學士學位學額及 5 000 個高年級學額。持文憑試資歷的學生可經 JUPAS 申請。教資會資助大學及職業訓練局亦提供公帑資助副學位；自資院校與公帑資助界別並行。資歷架構為學術、職業專才及持續教育資歷提供級別參照。
同一職業往往有多於一條合法路徑，例如政務主任與二級行政主任的學歷門檻不同，航空交通管制可以用文憑試指定科目投考。已核對的職業條目見升學就業目錄，未收錄的工種不會填上。

Hong Kong in Figures 2026 reports enrolment by level. Figures generally refer to the beginning of the school year, except post-secondary education, which is as at end-December. They cover full-time and part-time students on programmes of at least one year, and exclude tutorial, vocational and adult courses below post-secondary level.
In 2025/26: pre-primary 115,300; primary 321,700 (including special schools); secondary 361,400 (provisional, including evening, craft and Yi Jin / Diploma of Applied Education); post-secondary 354,700 (provisional). In 2025, 27.6% of people aged 15 and over held a degree.
The Education Bureau describes flexible, multiple-entry and multiple-exit routes. From 2018/19 the eight UGC-funded universities provide 15,000 first-year-first-degree places and 5,000 senior-year places a year. HKDSE holders may apply through JUPAS. UGC-funded universities and VTC also offer publicly funded sub-degree programmes; the self-financing sector runs alongside. The Qualifications Framework references academic, vocational and continuing-education awards.
The same occupation often has more than one lawful path — Administrative Officer and Executive Officer II have different degree hurdles; air traffic control can be entered from specified HKDSE subjects. Sourced occupation pages are in the careers index; missing jobs are not invented.
