屋宇單位與住戶是兩套統計。2025 年 9 月底永久性居住屋宇單位 3 106 000 個：公共租住房屋 877 000（28.2%）、資助出售單位 467 000（15.0%）、私人永久性屋宇單位 1 762 000（56.7%）。統計處註明，單位數目不應與家庭住戶數目直接比較以評估空置。2025 年新落成居住單位 41 700 個，是全年落成量，不是存量。 房屋局 2026 年 8 月 13 日公布，截至 2026 年 6 月底，一般出租公屋申請約 100 500 宗，配額及計分制下非長者一人申請約 81 000 宗。

Quarters and households are different series. At end-September 2025 there were 3,106,000 permanent living quarters: 877,000 public rental (28.2%), 467,000 subsidised sale (15.0%) and 1,762,000 private (56.7%). The Census and Statistics Department warns against comparing quarters with domestic households to infer vacancy. Newly completed residential flats in 2025 numbered 41,700; that is annual completions, not the stock of quarters. A Housing Bureau press release of 13 August 2026 stated that at end-June 2026 there were about 100,500 general public rental housing applications and about 81,000 non-elderly one-person applications under the Quota and Points System.
